strawberry scone dud & the pleasure of ferns

My humble greetings to all! It has been an exasperating day, when once again I wasted those beautiful local strawberries on a scone recipe that refused to work. After thinking it over, I believe the moisture of those local berries skewed the recipes - leaving me with strawberry cookies that were quite stuck to the cookie sheet. Ah, well, so it goes sometimes. And with that thought, I took a lovely cool walk on a very hot day among the trees and ferns. I hope your day has been cheerful and comfortable!

The ferns are lovely ... and I greatly appreciate a cook who can share her failures as well as her triumphs!

Thanks, Marianne! I don't hold with the dear Julia Child philosophy, which was to never apologize for your food. Maybe I'm too picky, but I figure we all have our triumphs - and falls:)

Maybe the strawberry scones weren't up to your usual delicious-ness, but your photos are beautiful! That tree lined road is so lovely - I enlarged it on the screen & felt like I was really 'there'. Thanks for sharing such beauty!

(Blame the hot, humid weather on the funky scones.)

Thanks for the excuse, Anon! I remember having this problem trying to make strawberry muffins one year - the berries are just so juicy they skew the recipe. Delighted you liked that lovely road - off to the right at the top, there's a path that wanders through the forest, one of my favorite walks.
